One of the things which make summer in Split one of the greatest is the nightlife. There is something going on every night, but weekends are always the liveliest.

The waterfront in Split is full of bars packed with people. So, for a start you might choose one of them to have a drink or a cocktail if you are lucky to find a non occupied table or you might opt for one of the bars between the narrow streets of the palace of Diocletian.

One of the best bars at the water front would be ST - Riva which also has a balcony where you can have a drink enjoying a wonderful view of the waterfront.

The past few years, Riva has been the main stage for the summer event called Discotheque Riva which hosts some of the world wide popular DJ-s like Carl Cox, Fatboy Slim, Faithless...

Among the most popular bars is Gaga which can be found in one of the narrow streets next to the People's Square (called piazza). This is a small bar but it is very popular especially during summer. It is known for cheap cocktails and if you want to find a place to sit you should arrive till 11.

Luxor bar is situated at the Peristyle Square. The downstairs floor is non-smoking while the upstairs is the smoking area. Maybe one of the best things in Luxor is that in the summer you can sit outside on cushins and enjoy live music or dance performances.

Another popular area is the area of three bars: Puls, Ghetto and Fluid which are situated some 100 metres from Riva. Outside Puls, you can sit on small chairs and tables set along the stairs. Fluid is a small bar in which most people just stand because there are only 6-8 tables. What is interesting about Fluid is that it has a round room built into the palace walls. Near Fluid there is Ghetto which is situated in a courtyard where live bands often perform.

Near the northern gate of the palace there is a square on which you will find some bars; one of them is Red Room where you can relax sitting on living room chairs and enjoying your drink.

These are all early evening bars because the real party in Split does not start before 1 am. So after you have visited some or all of the above mentioned bars, it is time to visit some of the most popular night clubs in Split.

First of all, Bacvice, which is the most popular city beach, in the evening turns into a party mecca! The two most popular clubs are Tropic Club and Bacvice Club.

Tropic Club is located in the first building next to the beach. It is not very big so it is usually full. The entrance is free of charge and you should come relatively well dressed because otherwise you will hardly get in.

Next to it you will find Bacvice Club which is mainly preferred by younger audience but the older are also welcome; the music playing is dance with attractive dancers to make the entertainment more interesting.

A little bit further, along the coast, in the second bay after Bacvice, you will find O'Hara Club. This is for those who prefer the rock music and in the summer there is often live music and DJ's performing. No dress code is required.

Vanilla Club is situated a 20 minute walk from the centre, next to the Poljud stadium. It is a very popular place, crowded especially during summer, but it has an relatively large outdoor area so you will be able to find a place for yourself. Just like in Tropic Club, you should be relatively well dressed. The entrance is paid when there's live performance; usually it's the local bands and singers.

Not far away from Vanilla Club, some 200 metres, you will find Hemingway Club situated directly at the sea. This is the most exclusive club in Split and it is a branch of the Hemingway clubs which can be found in Zagreb, Opatija and Rijeka. It was renovated a few years ago, it has VIP lounges and the longest bar in Split. It hosts local and international bands and DJ's during summer.

In the very ferry port building you will find Imperium, a restaurant and lounge bar. Due to the location, its interior is designed like a luxury cruise ship. With a view on the ferry port and ferries, you will be able to enjoy popular concerts and DJ's.
