Getting to Split from Sibenik

If you are planning to visit both Sibenik and Split during your holiday in Croatia, you might find this guide to travelling from Sibenik to Split useful. The guide of course also applies if you travel in the opposite direction.

By car: the fastest and the shortest route between Sibenik and Split goes via the highway. The travel distance on this route is 82.6 km which approximately equals a time of 1 hour and three minutes. Toll applies on this route. If you wish to avoid paying the toll, you can take an alternative route which is the coastal road. The travel time on this route is a little bit longer and it is estimated to 1 hour and 22 minutes. In the season, the travel time on the coastal road can be prolonged depending on the traffic volume.

By bus: Sibenik and Split are very well connected by bus and there are plenty of daily bus departures between the two cities. Travel time for buses following the highway route is about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Buses taking the coastal road usually drive half an hour longer. If you are not in a hurry and have time to enjoy the trip I would recommend taking a bus following the coastal road. You can see here bus timetable between Sibenik and Split.

By plane: it is not possible to travel by plane between Sibenik and Split

By train: there is a train between Sibenik and Split but not a direct one. There are three departures a day. The train goes from Sibenik to Perkovic where you have to wait for a train to Split. The trip takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.

By ferry: there is no ferry between Split and Sibenik.

Travel tips from Sibenik to Split

If you are arriving by car from Sibenik to Split, you might want to add certain interesting stops to your itinerary:

  • National Park Krka: a beautiful national park by Skradin known also as "Little Plitvice"
  • Primosten: if you take the coastal road, turn to Primosten, an interesting, little fishermen's village.
  • Trogir: beautiful old town which is on the UNESCO list of world cultural heritage.
