If you are planning to visit both Rovinj and Split during your holiday in Croatia, you might find this guide to travelling from Rovinj to Split useful. The guide of course also applies if you travel in the opposite direction.

By car: the distance between Rovinj and Split is 453 km if you take the fastest route which is, of course, the highway although the whole route only partially includes the highway. Toll applies on this route but only on the highway part. The trip following this route lasts 4 hours and 52 minutes. You can as well choose another route which is the coastal road, of course if you are not in a hurry and want to see the beauties of the Adriatic coast. Toll does not apply on this route. Taking this route takes of course more time, approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes, but it could take even more in the summer season depending on the traffic jams.

By bus: there is only one daily direct bus connecting Rovinj and Split. It leaves at 19.00 from Rovinj and arrives in Split at 6.00. It's quite a long drive because the bus stops very frequently, almost in all the major cities along the coast. A better solution would be taking a bus from Rovinj to Rijeka and then change a bus to Split. Buses from Rovinj to Rijeka are quiet frequent and the trip lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes with a fast bus. From Rijeka to Split there are also frequent bus lines; the trip takes more or less 8 hours because buses frequently stop in coastal towns. There are however a few fast buses driving 6 hours and 20 minutes. So, the trip by bus from Rovinj to Split takes 8 to 9.30 hours, depending on the bus you take.

It is not possible to travel from Rovinj to Split by any other means of transport.
