Split has the privilege to be the first city in Croatia to have a "green hotel". The hotel is called Hotel Split but it is not situated exactly in Split; it is actually in Podstrana, 8 km south from Split. This four star, family hotel was open in 2012 and is situated directly at the sea, 300 meters from the Marina Strozanac.
The contents of the hotel include 40 double rooms, a lobby bar with a terrace, a pool on the roof terrace to mention a few. The hotel is eco-friendly which is proven by the fact that it is a certified facility of energy efficiency class A; this means the hotel uses solar energy for heating, rainwater for watering green surfaces, cleaning the walkway and the parking space, has recycling bins in the halls, cleaning detergents which are biodegradable, pH neutral shampoos and soaps with Eco certificates. The employees of the hotel are also educated about energy efficient behaviour.
The reception area has a ceiling which is actually a stretched linen on which you will see the drawings of the owner's children; this is also visible on the staircase. On the roof terrace you can get by a panoramic lift and then relax in the pool which changes colours thanks to LED lights.
All the rooms have sea views and a loggia; bedroom area is separated from the bathroom by a glass wall. Beds in the rooms are not on the floor as usually, they are placed on some kind of cascade base which means that you can see the sea from the bed.
